Ordinance Nos. 2020-01 and 2020-02 become effective
Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, February 6, 2020 the County Commissioners of Carroll County adopted Ordinance Nos. 2020-01 and 2020-02 after receiving comments at a public hearing held on Thursday, January 23, 2020. Both ordinances amend Chapter 35, Personnel; Pensions and Retirement, §§ 35.30, 35.31 (Carroll County Pension Plan), and §§35.60 and 35.61 (Carroll County Certified Law Officers Pension Plan) as follows: 1) increase the benefit for catastrophic line of duty disability for Certified Law Officers from 30% to 45%, and for Correctional Officers from 0% to 45%; 2) establish a benefit for non-catastrophic line of duty disability for Certified Law Officers from 0% to 35%, and for Correctional Officers from 0% to 35%; and 3) any future percentage increase of Average Compensation would apply prospectively to the retiree receiving line-of-duty disability benefits, as of the effective date of the amendment. Ordinance Nos. 2020-01 and 2020-02 become effective on April 1, 2020.
