Community Media Center Invites Local Veterans to Share Their Stories
Westminster, Maryland (May 24, 2019) -- The Community Media Center will hold a special Veterans Oral History Collection Day on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Community Media Center, 1301 Washington Road, Westminster, MD.
The Veterans Oral History Collection Day is an opportunity for Carroll County veterans to share their personal accounts of military service with the rest of our community. The goal of the project is to recognize our local veterans, honor them for their service and preserve their memories for future generations.
Local veterans interested in sharing their story must contact the Community Media Center at 410-386-4415 to schedule an interview time. Interviews will be scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment only. To be included in the project, please schedule your appointment no later than June 5, 2019.
The recorded interviews will be broadcast on Channel HD 1086 and Channel 19. The interviews will also become a part of the Carroll County History Project’s permanent, online video archive at www.carrollhistory.org. The Community Media Center has nearly 70 interviews in the current Veterans Oral History Collection that features individuals who served in all branches of the military and includes the personal accounts of local veterans who served during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Carroll County residents have a long and distinguished history of military service. It’s a proud and honored tradition that should be remembered, recognized and preserved for future generations. The Veterans Oral History Collection Day is an opportunity for our local veterans to share their personal accounts of military service with the rest of our community.
These important, personal accounts can provide powerful insights into the experiences of our local veterans. Through their stories, we can begin to see how military experiences affect every aspect of life, regardless of whether a person served overseas or stateside.
