Westminster, MD, Thursday, July 25, 2019 - Today, during Open Session, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners (BOC) unanimously approved the development of a FY2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for Family and Children Services (FCS).
FCS is seeking CDBG funding for the construction of a two-story, 10,000 square-foot addition to a facility which will house the Family and Children’s Services’ Family Support Center. The building will include office and meeting space housing hotline operations, comprehensive case management, behavioral health and psychiatric services. This project includes over $4.8M funding from grants and fundraising/community support without any additional county funding. The next step in the grant process is a public hearing.
Citizen Services Director Christine Kay presented the request with FCS Chief Executive Officer F. T. Burden. The county has a long-standing partnership with FCS which serves Carroll County as the only non-profit provider of adult daycare, domestic violence services and elder abuse services.
Commissioner Ed Rothstein, Vice President said, “This is another example of excellent teamwork and collaboration between the county, a local nonprofit and the community which results in the continuation of important services that strengthen our county.”
