Westminster, MD, Monday, January 27, 2020 – Beginning January 31, 2020 Carroll County Government will implement its enhanced visitor management system at the main County Office Building in Westminster. Valid photo identification has been required since January 2019, this change updates the system methodology for handling the ID.

Upon entering Carroll County’s main county office building, visitors are greeted at the information desk and asked for valid photo identification and their intended destination. Staff will scan the photo identification and enter the destination into the visitor management system then return the ID to the visitor. An ID name badge with the date, visitor’s name, time and destination is printed and given to visitors to wear while visiting the building.

When business concludes, visitors will return to the lobby and return the badge to the information desk or place in a designated drop box before exiting the building.

The Carroll County Board of Commissioners is committed to ensuring the safety of its employees and those entering the building for county business. In August, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners (BOC) voted unanimously to continue moving forward with security enhancements for the County Office Building including an updated visitor management system, notification system and building feature enhancements as well as using Sheriff Office personnel to monitor building security.
