Westminster, MD, Thursday, March 4, 2021 – After receiving a complaint from a citizen, Carroll County Bureau of Roads Operations is warning residents to beware of a potential scam involving someone falsely representing a county contractor offering to repair potholes for a fee.

In February, someone approached a Taneytown resident claiming to be a county roads contractor and offering to fill driveway potholes for a fee. County employees and contractors will never solicit work on private property for a fee.

Residents who have a question about this possible scenario or other public works and roads questions can call 410-386-6717 to verify its authenticity.  If members of the public suspect a scam, please report the situation to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 410-386-2900.
