"When do I need a grading permit?"
Any disturbance over 5,000 square footage or 100 cubic feet needs a grading permit.
"Do I always have to hire an engineer?"
Any disturbance between 5,000 square footage and 30,000 square feet is covered under the Standard Sediment Control Plan.
"What happens if my disturbance is over 30,000 square feet?"
Any disturbance over 30,000 square feet or 500 cubic feet needs an approved sediment control plan from the Carroll Soil Conservation District.
"Do I have to get any special permits if my site disturbs more than 1 acre?"
New Construction projects disturbing one acre of land or greater shall be required to apply for an individual or general permit (NOI) through the MDE for the discharge of stormwater associated with construction activities.
