Westminster, MD, Wednesday, May 6, 2026Carroll County Economic Development is recognizing National Small Business Week, May 4th – 9th, and the importance of the small business community. During the celebration, economic development and local business development staff will visit many small businesses located in Carroll’s eight municipalities. The visits give an opportunity to show appreciation to many small businesses and entrepreneurs for their commitment to the county and to thank them for the crucial role they play in the county’s economy.

National Small Business Week, led by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), honors the millions of entrepreneurs who serve as the backbone of the economy, driving two out of every three new jobs.

Economic Development recognizes the critical importance of small businesses and prioritizes them with direct support as well as partnerships with the Small Business Development Center and other organizations.

"Small businesses are the heart and soul of our community," said Director of Economic Development Denise Beaver. "We chose to celebrate our Main Street enterprises this week and are excited to visit and congratulate them on their success. When you support a small business, you are supporting a dream, a family, and a stronger, more connected community."
