Westminster, MD, Thursday, October 23, 2025 – Today, in Open Session, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners proclaimed October 20 through October 24, 2025, as Economic Development Week in Carroll County. Department Director Denise Beaver and staff from Carroll County Department of Economic Development, including the Office of Tourism, Carroll County Workforce Development and the Carroll County Farm Museum, were on hand for the presentation.

As part of the week-long observance, Carroll County Department of Economic Development is recognizing the importance of many long-established county businesses. During the celebration, economic development and local officials are meeting with twenty companies, identified as community pillars, to pay tribute and thank them for the crucial role they play in the county’s economy and the state's ongoing prosperity and growth.

The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), will also celebrate Economic Development Week statewide. Since 2011, this week-long observance highlights the transformative impact of economic development on communities and individuals. Events and activities hosted by various economic development organizations will spotlight the efforts and initiatives to improve business retention, job growth, and quality of life for Maryland residents.

“Business and industry are important to our organization every day, but we enjoy taking this week to specifically focus on the importance of economic development and the critical role it plays in economic vitality and quality of life for our county,” said Denise Beaver, director of the Department of Economic Development. “Our thanks go out to the many outstanding businesses that contribute to the county’s economic ecosystem, but this year we chose to focus on twenty organizations that are considered pillars of our community.  We sincerely appreciate and support these twenty establishments that include education, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare and information and technology industries, which not only drive economic growth but also create job opportunities and sustain our vibrant community.”

Economic development initiatives fortify the community, county, region, state and beyond and has many benefits. Fostering a positive business community by attracting and expanding industry and enterprise as well as growing and encouraging startups strengthen Carroll County’s economy.
