September is National Workforce Development Month

Westminster, MD, Thursday, September 4, 2025 – Today, in Open Session, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners proclaimed September as National Workforce Development Month. Carroll County Workforce Development (CCWD) and Carroll County Economic Development were on hand to recognize the event and discuss local workforce development initiatives.
Workforce Development Month was established by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) to celebrate the significant impact workforce development programs have had in re-building the economy, building a pipeline to good, quality jobs, and supporting underserved communities.
“Carroll County Workforce Development is a critical tool in our economic development strategy and impacts and strengthens the local economy by connecting workers with businesses looking for talent,” said Director of Economic Development Denise Beaver. “CCWD programs provide services including career guidance, job training, skill enhancement and job search skills to our community. We are proud to support Workforce Development Month and to showcase the impact CCWD programs have on building the workforce in Carroll County.”
“Carroll County is a leader in workforce and economic development initiatives through innovative programs, strategic partnerships with the community and state, and a commitment to lifelong learning and career advancement,” added CCWD Manager Heather Powell. “I am proud to work with partners to develop a strategic, integrated plan that strives to meet the county’s labor force needs and supports economic growth. Our Workforce Development Board and staff engage employers, develop and implement career pathways and enhance coordination with education partners to offer successful pathways for businesses, youth and adults.”
About Workforce Development Month: Workforce Development Month is a nationwide celebration established by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals to bring together leading business, labor, education, and other critical partners to showcase the impact workforce programs have on building the American workforce, as well as highlight the successes and value of workforce development for re-building our economy, building a pipeline to good, quality jobs, and supporting underserved communities. Workforce Development Month gives the opportunity to showcase workforce programs, facilities and program participants so that job seekers can learn more about the benefits of workforce development programs and what is available in their communities.
Carroll County Workforce Development operations and programming are supported by federal, state, and local resources. The federal funding for Program Year 2025 is $1,560,810.74. This represents 55.14% of available funds.
Carroll County Workforce Development (CCWD) is an office of the Carroll County Department of Economic Development.
