The Carroll County Bureau of Aging & Disabilities is pleased to invite the public to the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Carroll County Veterans Services Program (VSP) on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The free event will be held from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Westminster Senior & Community Center located at 125 Stoner Avenue in Westminster.

The event will feature an opening ceremony at 10:00 am with county commissioners and Secretary Anthony Woods from the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs as speakers and Veteran specific vendors on site. The Kahlert Foundation, a long-time supporter of the Veteran Services Program, will be present for the opening ceremony and the county’s Veterans Service Officers will also be available during the event to meet with Veterans to provide information about services offered by the program.

In October of 2013, the Board of Carroll County Commissioners identified Veterans as a priority population, and dedicated resources to develop and promote programs and services for Veterans.  In partnership with Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), county Veteran Service Officers are trained and accredited to submit pension and compensation claims on behalf of Veterans. Since that time, VSP continuously reexamines and reassesses its operations to evolve and improve services and service delivery, consistently adding value to ensure Veterans are honored and celebrated in life.  The VSP assists over 800 Veterans annually and since the inception of the program, has recouped over $65.8 million in pension and compensation awards for Carroll County Veterans, their spouses, and dependents.

The mission of the Carroll County Veterans Services Program is dedicated to promoting the interests and welfare of veterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, their family members, and survivors. The program focuses on enhancing the veteran’s quality of life and improving outcomes through advocacy, claims assistance, education, counseling and facilitating access to other appropriate human services programs.

Please join the county as it celebrates 10 years of Carroll County’s award-winning Veterans Services Program, recognizing the outstanding dedication and service provided to those who served our country, their spouses, dependents, and caregivers. Reservations are not needed.
