Westminster, MD, Thursday, December 18, 2025 –Carroll County Government is pleased to announce that the Finksburg Sustainable Community was awarded an $80,000 grant from the State of Maryland for a Facade Improvement Program (FIP). The Carroll County Department of Planning and Land Management, in partnership with the Finksburg Planning and Citizens’ Council, applied for the funding and was notified this week that they were awarded the grant.

The grant is provided through the Maryland Façade Improvement Program, which is administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The Finksburg Facade Improvement Program aims to:

  1. Encourage renovations of building fronts and signs
  2. Improve the appearance of the Finksburg Corridor
  3. Leverage private improvements by making revitalization efforts affordable and community-based
  4. Preserve and enhance the economic vitality of commercial services

Participating businesses awarded funding through the Finksburg FIP include Mudgett’s Auto Body, Belisimo’s Ristorante, Fiamata Restaurant & Lounge, and Watts Center. More details about the program can be found on the Finksburg FIP webpage.
