Westminster, MD, Friday, April 1, 2022 – Yesterday, during Open Session, the Carroll County Board of Commissioners received a detailed presentation on potential plans to staff the new combination Department of Fire & Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Michael Robinson, Director of the Department of Fire & EMS, along with representatives from the Department of Management and Budget, revealed several options for staffing the Fire & EMS department for fiscal years 2023 through 2028.

The commissioners welcome comments on the options presented. Interested residents can watch the meeting on the county meeting portal and the county YouTube channel and view the presentation on the Department of Fire & EMS webpage. Comments can be sent to Michael Robinson at mrobinson@carrollcountymd.gov.

“This is a priority for the commissioners that affects the entire county,” said Commissioner Ed Rothstein. “It is important to get feedback on these options from both those who are within the fire and emergency medical services community as well as residents, so we have as much information as possible to move forward.”

“Carroll County is at a crossroads in determining the direction for the consistent delivery of Fire/EMS on a 24/7 basis.  As we move forward, we must ensure an effective and cost-efficient Fire & EMS service delivery plan that meets the needs of our citizens both now and as we transition into the future,” said Michael Robinson, Director of Fire & EMS. “A considerable amount of research and analysis has gone into these plans but the ultimate decision and moving forward with in any direction will require a commitment of resources, preparation, and implementation.”

All meetings are also replayed on Comcast Channel 24.
